Message OK, I'm checking out the forums on some other sites I go to(corral.net, LS1.com) and I keep hearing how badazz Supras are and how everyone tries to beat them. People keep going on about how the Supra is the only worthy Japanese competetion out there, blah, blah, blah... Then, I get the same kind of crap here in Okinawa Japan from other "hot-rodders" saying how notoriously unreliable the 300ZX is, how slow and heavy, and what a waste of time and money. The guys here go on about Skylines and Silvias, and the Supras, of course. My question is, what the Hell happened? I haven't lost any races, yet my car is "slow"? The US-based competetion goes on and on about the Supra, but never any mention of the Z...WTF!!!I challenge anyone out there to find a better all around sportscar for under $40,000. So the Z wasn't imported after '96, well they don't import RX-7's or Supra's anymore. Yes the LS-1 engined GM's are fast (Camaro, Firebird, Corvette) but the only one I think looks nice is the 'Vette, I've driven the other two and am unimpressed with their quality, they may be quick, but they feel cheaply made and vague. The Supra is a fast car, especially when modded, but I think it's ugly as hell. The RX-7 blows up too much. And the Mustang (and I am a diehard Mustang enthusiast and owner) hasn't been the same since they changed the body in '94 and made them heavier and slower, not to mention harder and much more expensive to modify. To be honest, most American "Ponycars" (Camaro/Firebird, Mustang) can't compete with the whole package of the Z when it comes to looks, suspension, brakes, comfort, and "out the box" performance...What do the rest of you guys think?
